James Hale has raised over £800 for SNAP Cymru by taking part in the Gower Triathlon olympic distance event which is set in the stunning location of Port Eynon. With sheltered blue flag water for the 1500m Swim, an amazing 37k Bike course and a 10k Run, it is an amazing way to raise funds for SNAP Cymru.
I did the race for Snap Cymru who have helped out two of my best friends, Mez and Tosh. They have a lush little boy called Alby who has autism. Alby is lucky to have two very loving and switched-on parents who are able to help him through his life but they still needed SNAP Cymru to help them out with independent and accurate advice and support. Anything donated to this fantastic local Welsh charity would be very gratefully received and I can assure you it’s going to a good causeJames
Taking part in a triathlon takes dedication and personal strength. Thank you James for sharing your achievements with your friends and SNAP Cymru and bringing in sponsorship to support other children and young people across Wales, who just like Alby have additional needs.
Denise Inger, Director of SNAP Cymru said: “We are delighted with the donations from James’ family and friends. Fundraising efforts like James’ will help us raise much-needed funds to support thousands of children with additional needs and their families who rely on the independent advice and support provided by SNAP Cymru across Wales. With ever greater pressures on services and provision for children and families, the need for accurate independent advice for families is more important than ever.”
Alby’s mother Mererid says “Small charities like SNAP are often overlooked when people donate and fundraise, often giving to large UK wide charities, this makes James efforts and all the family and friends donations all the more special. Snap Cymru really, helped us get the right support for Alby. It means much more when it’s a small local charity that helps you personally and is always there for you, each time you return for more information or advice.”
SNAP Cymru was chosen as the only uniquely Welsh charity to receive the Queens Jubilee Award for Volunteering, and its only through individuals getting involved, giving the gift of time and fundraising that we can continue to support families throughout Wales.
Make a difference: Any donation you make, no matter how small, will help to ensure that we can continue to support children, young people and their families in Wales.
There are lots of different ways to raise money for SNAP Cymru and have a great time doing it! Why not hold a tea party or quiz or maybe clear out your clutter and sell your unwanted items on eBay? Or you may even have a special occasion coming up where you can ask people for donations instead of gifts? Any donation, big or small, helps to make sure that every family has the support they need for every step of their journey.
