Thousands took to the streets of Cardiff on Saturday completing a World Half Marathon course and didn’t let a bit of wind and rain stop them from crossing the finish line.

It was an incredible afternoon for all runners, spectators, volunteers and everyone involved in the event, but particularly special for us as Gary Gould our own volunteer fundraiser raced in the footsteps of champions to raise money for SNAP Cymru.

“ I loved it and yes I did get a little wet. I finished in 2hrs 13mins so very pleased with my time!”

Gary is a proud father of four children and amazingly still finds time to volunteer as a Learning Support Assistant in Barry Island Primary School.  While the thought of looking after children at home and in work can be challenging for any parent Gary is also studying online with the Open University to become a full time Teacher. Doing all of this is astonishing in itself, but now Gary has trained and completed the half marathon on our behalf. How fantastic! We’d love to thank Gary’s friends, family and his school in Barry who have supported him to raise several hundred pounds for SNAP Cymru to support us to reach even more families.  Theres still time to donate to Gary’s total
